Used mining gpu

Daniel Stautland

Hey, I'm thinking of buing a new graphics card for my pc, I was lookig for a used gtx 1070 to bring down the price a bit when I found a Gigabyte gtx 1070 8gb which has been used for mining for 6 months. In norway the cheapest new price for a gtx 1070 8gb is about 458 US $, the price for this used gpu is about 211 US $. the card has also not been OC.

mining GPU's have been quite stressed with constant load so i don't know if it's enough of an effect to be a problem and if it is when

but if you check out komplett you can find a 1070 for 430$-2800dkk-3667nkk

Anything i've written between the * and * is not meant to be taken seriously.

keep in mind that helping with problems is hard if you aren't specific and detailed.

i'm also not a professional, (yet) so make sure to personally verify important information as i could be wrong.

I have two ex-mining cards. Both are running just fine. It's a matter of what you feel comfortable with. It helps if you get a card that's still under warranty though.

As long as the card works properly when you receive it, the only risk of buying a mining card is that the fans probably will die sooner than on a similar age card used only in someone's gaming pc.

Also, 1070's are generally safer than higher tier cards since they just don't run as hot. I had a 24 card rig going for about 6 months, and have kept 4 of them for normal use since, one of which is an MSI 1070 Gaming X.

Using Nvidia's OC Scanner in the new beta of Afterburner it automatically OC'd to +194 core with stock 100% power and 83c temp limits. It never gets above 74c with that and +405 mem OC in my htpc case.
