I was watching the latest wan show and was wondering how do you start a web hosting company?

 

I guess to make it simpler, how to get domains to sell? 

do you literally just buy them and then sell?

That would never work
you cant go and buy a domain, and then try to sell it off to someone else. no one will go to you, they will go to verified sources and big websites.

As for web hosting, you can host websites but you have to actualy know what your doing, and  you have to have servers, or rent servers. I host over 100 websites and over 500 email adresses for Semi-large to large companies.
