1-2TB drive for game library

Hi folks,

I need a 1-2TB drive for my game library - nothing bank breaking - but a strong HDD and perhaps I'll get an optane module too. Are Western Digital still considered good drives?

Many thanks, T

i7 3770k @5GHz, Gigabyte Z77x-UD5H, GTX 1070, AX 1200, EK custom loop, 8GB Blue Vengeance CL9 1600MHz, IPS 24" 1080p 60Hz, Windows 10 Enterprise, a variety of Samsung SSDs

Yep. Get a WD Blue, Seagate Barracuda (this is my top recommendation for reliability), or a WD Black (this is my top recommendation for performance).

Don't get an Intel Optane module. Get a "normal" SSD instead.

Not that it's very feasible anyway, but a optane module + 2TB HDD is about 80$ while a 2TB SSD is much, much more. I can see why he doesn't want to get a 2TB SSD

Main PC:  MacBook Air (M1, 2020), 8GB of RAM, 256GB of storage; running macOS, but waiting for Linux to be ported to the M1
