My specs -
gtx 1070
core i5 6400
8gb ram
500 watt power supply
msi h110 motherboard
1tb harddrive

I’ve noticed my cpu, disk, and memory usage high after installing my gtx 1070. I know 8gb ram is the minimum for a gtx 1070. Can my ram be affecting my usage?

If I do need more ram would it be reasonable to upgrade my motherboard so I could have faster ram?

With no applications running my memory is at 28%

No reason to upgrade your board, faster ram won't help much, and ram speed doesn't affect usage of ram.

Everything looks fine there, Nothing to worry about. Playing a game will use a good amount of cpu power, you can get a faster cpu if you want, but if the games play fine, I wouldn't do that now.

But don’t you think my cpu being at a constant 100% when playing a game is bad?

I recently upgraded from a 950 to the 1070 and my cpu usage was never 100% and my memory was not as high as it is now and I’m playing the same games

Since you have a faster gpu, your fps is higher, so your cpu has to work harder to pump out more frames, this is normal.

So should my next upgrade be a new cpu? I was thinking about eventually upgrading to an I7 but then I would have to upgrade my power supply and is my motherboard compatible with an i7?

you can upgrade to a i7 without changing anything else.

Id just wait a bit and get a newer board + cpu.

So my board wouldn’t be compatible with an i7? And wouldn’t I also need a better power supply because the one I have now is only 500 watts?

you board will work with a i7 7700k, but thats a older i7, and Id get a newer board to use a newer cpu like a ryzen 2600x.

That psu will be fine.
