My Friends Build

roktmanskip

My friend is looking for a build that can play most games max (2080 is too much $ ), any suggestions. He doesn't care much about aesthetics and wants at least 4 years out of his computer. my main worry is the cpu cooler; not overclocking much. Also thinking about 8700k. thx

Go with a 9700k, as a 9600k only has 6 cores and 6 threads, while a 9700k has 8 cores and 16 threads. I didnt notice when I bought my 9600k, so i'm stuck with it for now. Plus a 9700k isn't much more expensive than a 9600k, while having more performance than a 8700k.

9700k has 8 threads

Go with a 8700k. Even though its a generation behind it has 6 cores and 12 threads, as the new 9x series does NOT have hyperthreading.

Current Rig:

Core i5 9600k

MSI MPG Z390 Gaming Edge AC

Corsair Vengeance RGB 32gb (4x 8gb)

Samsung 970 EVO 250gb m.2 SSD

But you knew you were getting 6c/6t so what's to regret in your own rig?

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

It was already ordered by the time I saw it was 6c/6t. I thought it had hyperthreading, even thought the previous generation didnt. I must've read something from somewhere weird that said it had hyper threading.
