The Mac Pro has so far not been beaten for power, portability and efficiency by anything. The value of the Mac Pro is better than ever; don't just say "overpriced". Go and try build a computer with a similar size, form factor, power, efficiency, portability and price. Good luck trying to do so.

Most of the Mac haters have no justification to their arguments. Yes the internal customisation is limited, however this is part of Apple's push for Thunderbolt. If Thunderbolt becomes increasingly popular, it will benefit all consumers around the world due to its ease of cross-compatibility.

If you organise your peripherals nicely, you won't have a mess of cables and whatnot that won't destroy the overall look. Plus, daisy-chaining actually improves physical organisation as it means you're not constantly having to run cables all the way back to the computer.

I think, the 2013 MacPro is a real beast. The price is reasonable for what you get.

Just one little thing to all here saying that they could build 2 worksations for this price:

1. Those are all high quality parts, not an average i7 4930k and a GTX 780...

2. As a professional you normally have your external storage hardware already, so there is no need for 10 internal HDDs

3. This computer is capable of running 24/7

Also please consider the great power management of the mac pro, this thing is powered by a 400W power supply!!!! and the really small form factor!

Consider this: For 80% of the max performance you need about 20% of your money, if you wanna reach 100% you need to add 80% more money! This is because costumer hardware is much cheaper than professional hardware.

\The older models really looked nice in my opinion.  Incorporating handles in to the chassis design and yet keeping all the lines so clean gave it that functional yet beautiful look.  I will say that when it is on a pedestal with pretty lights shinning on it, the 2013 Mac pro does look good.  Also it makes sense to pull cool air up from the bottom and out the top (think SilverStone FT03) but I can't really say anything more for it.  Parts that can take more heat should never be connected to parts that can't like what they did with that triangular heat sink connecting 2 GPUs to 1 CPU.  Why wasn't it made just a little bit taller so one 2.5" hard drive could fit underneath?  If is was square or rectangular the whole thing would make so much more sense and you could fit more stuff in it butt as it is it seems to waste space.

This picture sums up what I feel about the 2013 Mac pro.  They started off trying to save space went too far.

I just put together a hardware equivalent build if anyone is interested follow the link: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/103677-2013-mac-pro-hardware-equivalent-pc-builds/

This is ridiculous, there has never been a company as polarising as Apple.

Yeah, the Mac Pro is a decent computer which packs a decent punch, but it's overpriced...well overpriced. Anyone who argues that Apple charges reasonable prices is either ignorant, delusional or both.

I think they would have done extensive testing to ensure components will deal with the heat well when connected by the heat sink like that.

A square or rectangle wastes much more space than a triangle, why do you think they have used a triangle? I don't see how the triangle wastes space.
