Install new graphic card

marcemarc30

Hi guys. I have just bought a rtx 2080 and will be installing in the next few hours, I am upgrading from my AMD rx480, I know i need to install the Nvidia drivers but some of the YouTube videos i have watched contradict themselfs on what order I need to uninstall/install various things. I think this is the right order but not sure.

1.Run DDU program

2.Remove old gpu

3.Install new gpu

4.Download new drivers

Is there any thing I have missed, i wasnt sure if I needed to remove the old graphic card before of after running the DDU

Thanks for any help

Just uninstall everything from  AMD GPU (drivers/software ect...) from the windows control panel

Then install the new GPU and the rest of the drivers from Nvidia site

Does that mean I don't need to run the DDU program??

It is best to run DDU in safe mode, as standard way of uninstalling might leave some entries in registry and such, possibly causing issues.
The order is just like you wrote, run DDU, uninstall old card, install new card, download the drivers of new card. I would not really suggest installing Geforce Experience V3 due to pop ups and the necessity of registration
