So, I recently swapped my gtx 1070 out for my old rx 470, as I am going to sell my old Pc and build a new one. However, I am getting no display at all with the rx470. The gpu lights are turned on, mobo lights as well, but the case fans doesn't seem to be spinning, and neither does the cpu cooler fan. Any idea what might be the cause of this?

My specs are assessed follows

Intel core i5-4690k

RM550x psu

RX470 nitro

2x8 gb ddr3 hypercube fury ram

Msi Z97 gaming 5 mobo

CM hyper 212 EVO

240 GB Kingston SSD

I am upgrading my GPU soon and I will first uninstall the Nvidia driver even though the new GPU is the same brand. Did you uninstall the GPU driver?

No i did not, think this might be the problem?

If when you put the GTX 1070 back in, and you have display output, then yes.

I am talking about uninstalling Nvidia drivers NOT the windows display drivers. The standard drivers that are installed with the OS, sometimes called native drivers, should still be able to drive the screen through the GTX 1070.

> Right click the Windows/start icon
> Select Apps and Features
> Search list for Nvidia
> Click on the Nvidia Graphics Driver (Ver. 4**.**)
> Click on Uninstall

> Restart machine

I am unsure about the OS having native drivers for the RX 470 though (due to the Windows update process), and this may require you to update the BIOS with a protocol driver standard suitable for an AMD GPU.

Although I did notice that your Msi Z97 Gaming 5 does support both Nvidia and AMD GPUs and the GPU is Windows ready, so hopefully, you don't need to.

Going from ATI to nVidia or vice versa causes problems.  You might even have to format.  Run DDU in safe mode boot up install latest bloatware amd drivers and give her a shot.
