Hi, I currently have a FX8320, 8gbs of RAM and an R9 270x. I was thinking of upgrading to a GTX 1070 (as a birthday gift to myself) in May. Then as a Christmas gift to my self get a Ryzen 5 6 core or Ryzen 7 CPU with a motherboard, and 16gbs of ram. What would you reccomend?

PC: Ryzen 9 5900x | RTX 3080Ti | Asus Prime B450-PLUS | ASUS ROG Strix 1000W Gold | 32GB Corsair Vengeance 3200MHz RAM | 512GB NVME SSD + 2TB NVME + 6TB WD BLACK | Windows 10 Pro + Windows 7 Ultimate

Laptop: MacBook Pro 15" 2018 | i9-8950HK | Radeon Pro 560X | 32gb RAM | 1tb SSD

iPhone 13 Pro Max | 256GB | iOS 16.5 with Dopamine 2 + Trollstore 2

Firstly, I'm not sure exactly what you're trying to say.

Secondly, your FX8250 will bottleneck almost any mid range GPU, so the CPU is what you'll want to upgrade first.

Lastly, AMD will be showing off Zen 2 CPUs very soon at CES, so I'd wait for those to drop and then decide what to get.

In May it's unlikely you can buy the 1070 (or faster 10 series) new because Nvidia stopped producing these GPUs and it's up to the addin board partners (asus, evga, etc) and retailers to sell their remaining stock.

I myself would rather wait for AMD's new CPU and GPU. If Nvidia's GPU get a price dive then I'd buy them as well, but at this point the chance is very low.

So wait and just get the new AMD CPUs and GPUs. I was looking at a used 1070 (I’m in UK if that matters)

the FX 8320, even if you overclock that to 5GHz (a difficult attempt for most people), it's still going to bottleneck the 1070 an awful lot at 1080p so you can't feel its potential (even the lower end 1060 is still getting CPU bottleneck at times). At that point, why even bother buying the graphics card.
