In league of legends its a definite must have, I've switched between 2k and 1440p every other year since like 2013 lol, i'd pick 144hz>2k anyday, but now i have a 2k 144hz, G-Sync is also a blessing at higher frames, I would recommend it, but only if you can get one for a good deal

Currently looking for a 1920x1080 144hz monitor. I am the kind of guy who likes to max out as many settings as possible in games and thusly not always getting stable 144 fps in modern games with my GTX 1070. So, is G-sync worth it? It makes the monitor cost almost double but will it ruin my experience if I don't have it?

well g sync is better for hardware that has larger variation i the frames it outputs.

with a 1070 your less likely to loose frames to the point of needing it.

I have a gsync monitor and its great but not really worth the cost if you have hardware that can output the max refresh rate of said monitor

No..you wont get any tearing if you are not even maxing your 144hz cap

You should be fine without G-Sync but if you want even more smoother experience though i doubt you will notice it if compared to your 144hz panel and it cost twice as much...

What kind of games would you be playing games like CS-GO, a 144hz monitor is pretty much a must-have,

But if you are just playing eye-candy games like the witcher or skyrim you won't notice too much of a difference in 144hz and would better benefit from a 2k or 4k panel, but at 4k you would not be able to run all games on max settings,

Also what are your specs, if you want higher frames you'll need a pretty good CPU with good per core performance
