acer Predator XB272 need help...

my girlfriend got me an amazing moniter for christmas and im loving it but i seem to be stuck at 60hz...

 

im using my laptop (asus strix gl702vs) has a gtx 1070 in it.

 

im using thunderbolt usb c to display port for my signal cable

 

i was told as long as i use display port cable through the thunderbolt i would be able to reach the 240 hz at 1080
