I have a CPU question?

Go to solution Solved by TrigrH,

no need to reset anything, just swap the cpu, if it doesn't post then reset it.

So I just got my new CPU I'm planning to install into my current Sabertooth p67 motherboard and I wanted to ask if it matters? I still need to reset the bios by removing the cmos battery and putting it back after a few min. My question is will affect anything if I put in my new CPU first Which is a core i5 3450, and then reset the bios? Or is it better to reset my bios with my current CPU which is the current core i5 2500 that is known to work with the older bios versions?

P.S: I have already updated the bios to the latest version that supports the 3450 CPU

I'm still trying to understand alot of things with PC's you sure nothing will get messed up or something. (newbie question)

I'm still trying to understand why you are replacing the CPU with something thats not even faster.

Well I'm using a GTX 1060 and my 2500 just wasn't cutting it, it was always be at 100% usage when I'd play Overwatch at medium even when I played it at low would be at like 95% usage something like that

Also I just came back from installing it and now the CPU is overheating and I don't understand why? Might have been because I had to rotate the heat sink be cause I put it in the wrong way the first time.

It really isn't worth getting the CPU anyways it's techinically better to just build a whole new system just because then I can have a better platform thats more stable with better performance. I think I'm just gonna request a return and refund on the CPU.

assuming you used new thermal paste? anyway the 2nd gen cpus have a soldered lid so they run cooler.
