Currently running these specs:

CPU: Ryzen 2600x

RAM: Corsair Vengeance 2x8GB @ 3000MHz

GPUASUS GTX 1050 TI 4GB

SSD: ADATA SX6000 128GB

HDD: WD Blue 1TB 7.2k

PSU: Corsair CX450

Fans: 4x120mm

I'm gonna be running out tomorrow and picking up a 1070 ti and I obviously need to upgrade my PSU but I was wondering the minimum I'd need for this build. I was thinking a 550W/600W but I wanted to just be sure that it will be enough

Thanks in advance.

Do you have some specific units in mind?

Because wattage is not really relevant, the qualitsy of the PSU is the most relevant thing...

And for that, a good quality 300W PSU would be enough, if it existed that is. They don't so you have to look at 400-450W minimum...

For example:

be quiet Straight Power 11, Bitfenix Whisper M, Cougar GX-F

If you want it cheaper: be quiet Pure Power 10 or 11, 400W and up, Bitfenix Formula (Cougar GX-S is not that great, so no recommendation from them).

Or be quiet System Power 9 or U9, 400W and up.

Oh yeah, missed that one.

Yeah PSU could be enough but only has one PCIe connector. That might cause problems...

I'm sorry but no. The CX line is garbage, low-tier budget stuff.

Also I wouldn't use a 1070ti on a 450w psu. You'll struggle to find a quality unit at that wattage.

The grey label CX is DC-DC, and it's quite decent. A lot better than the green label ones. I recommend you read some reviews, like the ones by Aris.

At 450W, you can get good PSUs, such as the Straight Power 11, Whisper M, Formula and Focus. A decent 450W PSU won't have issues powering a 250-300W PC.

Uh, no, the CX units are garbage, have always been garbage and probably always will be garbage. They just switch OEMs from time to time to give everyone a chance at mediocrity.

Also I wouldn't put a mid range to high-endish card such as the 1070ti on a 450w PSU, but you do you buddy.

And about those units you listed, those CWT units don't impress me one bit. Bitfenix is practically non-existent in the PSU market, and there's a reason for that. The only decent one you've listed is the Focus, but this one's pricy and not worth it since you can usually get the 550 for not much more, which is also much more advisable for such a PC.

Once again, I recommend you read reviews of the PSUs. Also, if your focus is on the OEM, rather than on the product itself, you should seriously reconsider that.

Could you explain the benefits of powering a 270W PC with a 550W PSU instead of powering it with a 450W PSU? I don't see any benefits, except for the potential of more damage, in case of a catastrophic failure. Which may or may not be a benefit, depending on your point of view.

Buddy i've been reading reviews for a while. Not my first rodeo. Those units don't stand out at all, except maybe for the straight power 11 which is made by FSP, a decent OEM.

And of course my focus is on the OEM, they are the guys who actually make the damn power supplies, not the label companies such as Corsair, Bitfenix and Be Quiet.

And what you call a 270w PC I call a 350w+ PC. An AIB overcloked 1070ti will draw over 250w at load, nevermind the other parts. A 450w unit is not be adequate for such a powerful PC.

Also you could explain why you bought a 650w titanium unit for a 1500x + r9 280 system while you're at it. It's literally the most expensive thing in your PC, so why would you fork all that cash? I mean, a 250w bitfenix unit would do just fine, wouldn't it? Since we're skimping on PSUs here. You talk a big game but start putting your money where your mouth is or stop experimenting on other people's money.
