Hello, I cannot post after trying to overclock my ram

Go to solution Solved by Master Disaster,

1) Unplug the power from the wall

2) Remove the button cell battery from the board

3) Leave it out for a few minutes

4) Replace battery

5) Reconnect power

6) Boot

Hello

I tried to overclock my ram and my motherboard will now just hang on A2 code:

The motherboard is a z97 gaming 5, and the ram is Corsair vengeance 1600, I've tried unplugging all usbs, when I removed my drives (SSD,hdd) it hanged on code 99.

Then I tried switching with another ram I have, it prompted me to got to setup or try default settings, would hang on A2 in both cases.

Note the screen would remain on the black screen with the text but my debug led on the motherboard said A2.

Everything was working wonderful before I tried to use the damn MSI memory try it thing. Wish I didn't.

I'm unsure how to continue, please help.

Thank you

The CMOS battery holds the motherboard configuration settings, following the steps Master Disaster said will clear the configuration settings and the motherboard will return to default settings.  There's probably a clear CMOS jumper on your motherboard too, but removing the battery works.

if those dont work, let it power cycle a few times. the mobo *should* auto train the ram.

i have set the video to start where the info on that starts.

Hey thank you for the answer.

Does it have to be a new battery or I can put in the same one after a few minutes?

You can replace the same battery no problem.
