Fixing old/broken(?) HDD

Heya,

so i've been trying to get some data of this rather old HDD (1tb barracuda 7200.12) 

The files im trying to get to are under windows.old -> user -> username, but unfortunately i'm not able to open this folder.

All i get a is a never ending green loading bar/no response.

 

Any idea where to go from here?
