Windows Headphone Bass Settings

Go to solution Solved by Mike Soda,

Thanks all, I'll just adjust it then.

Within my Windows 10 Audio settings for my headset (Hyper X Cloud Stinger), the bass adjustments have me a little confused. Currently it's frequency is set to 80 Hz @ 6 db but what exactly does it mean if I change this? I know there's selections that range from 50 to 600 hz. Additionally the boost level can be tweaked from none to 24 db, but are these levels at said frequencies always active? If not & bass boost is only activated on the selected frequency, which should I have it set at to produce the most realistic yet bass filled sound? I know this is probably entirely a preference based thing but I make better decisions when I'm influenced by others with more experience than me. So please, fire away on whatever suggestions ya got.

It means that the frequency level the bass boost kicks in is changed. 80 Hz at 6dB means that at around 80 Hz, the volume of those frequencies are raised 6 decibels for stronger response in that range.

As you said, it's entirely preferential as to where it kicks in, don't worry about what anyone else says if you feel it sounds good and it's practical for what you need it for.

If you want better sound quality, step away from the Hyper X series, while good for most day to day use with gaming in mind (voice chat), there is a whole new world out there... in terms of a pleasing audio experience. If those settings even work, the lower the bass response would give you the most bass in theory.

I have not tried the Hyper X Stinger, so I can't say much, however the first thing to consider is if you are willing to shell out a little bit of money for the quality audio experience you desire. Otherwise, stick to what you're using and tweak the settings until they sound best to you.

Everyone has a different opinion on what sounds better to them. I myself enjoy a bit of bass.
