R9 290x Fan speed

Hey guys,

 

Kinda having a large problem with the fan on my R9 290x, I put an aftermarket cooler on my card (Arctic Accelero Xtreme III), but decided to take it back off an put the stock one back on for a comparison, but now the fan speed won't adjust at all, I've tried MSI AB, Trixx and nothign changes, it says it changes but nothing happens, HELP!

 

PS: The fan is spinning, but just won't change

Is it spinning at OVER 9000 rpm?

Fan RPM just sits at 1000, won't go up or down, no matter how I change it

9000 rpm i would rip out my ears if had to silent to a R9 290x stock cooler at 9000 rpm...

Check MSI afterburner or equivalent program, make sure it's set to auto not manual in all of those.

Check MSI afterburner or equivalent program, make sure it's set to auto not manual in all of those. 

It is already on that setting, it seems to be registering the fan ok as it says the RPM is just 1000 and it is changing +-5 from 1000

Did you manage to put it in backwards? I did that with mine and it spun backwards...

Try Catalyst Control Center instead and don't forget to tick and apply the "Enable graphics overdrive". That is the official AMD software so it should do the trick. You might be having problems with software and not the card.
