Keeping it real short here...

  • I'm a competitive hit scan player who is HIGHLY sensitive to lag
  • I normally use shadowplay but I feel a HUGE difference when its turn off
  • I run an RTX2080 with a 1080p 144hz monitor.

It is extremely important to me that I keep my frames above 144 and I need a way to instant replay or DVR (not sure the right term) that last 2 minutes when I do something exciting.  Is there anything out there that works like shadowplay but with zero lag?  Capture card or something?

if you cannot handle any performance impact caused by recording software, grab a second machine that is only powerful enough to record, and a video in card for it, and just get a splitter to split your video between your monitor and recorder, this would allow you to also have the recording software run very isolated compared to your main pc, meaning if the game killed the main pc, you wouldnt loose the recording. also, do not shake recording pc.

Sadness is the one true emotion, and happiness, well, that's just a lie, sadness is all many of us feel, and is all we need to feel, because having it any other way, would just be wrong, why be happy when you can just be miserable like myself.

I think Shoe_eater means a capture card (elgato has them). And I agree that a second system is a must if you want to keep framerates above 144hz. If I remember correctly though, RTX2080 is not the fastest card for that resolution, Pascal might give it a run for it's money.

What sort of logic is this? RTX is ever so slightly faster than Pascal.

OP, overclock the memmory. It uses ASIC encoding and shouldnt affegt framerate much.

You can alternativly pick up an elgato capture card and buy an used PC with a Core i5 4th gen and use OBS CPU encoding
