So I recently changed my motherboard to accommodate some of the upgrades I'll be getting and after switching the motherboard I've noticed higher memory usage in task manager and was wondering if it was because of the change

Before 25- 35% idle

Ryzen 7 1700

Gigabyte a320m-s2h

XFX Radeon RX 560 4gb

8 gb 4x2 Patriot signatureline DDR4 2400MHz

After 49- 59% idle

Ryzen 7 1700

MSI B450M pro-vdh

XFX Radeon RX 560 4gb

8 gb 4x2 Patriot signatureline DDR4 2400MHz

Go into task manager and see what's eating up all the RAM.
I'm guessing you didn't do a fresh install?

It's not a race to the bottom.

Would I need another OEM key for windows if I did a fresh install?

And nothing extras really running in the background a bunch of service host, windows explorer ( folder icon ), Norton security. Are the only things above 10 mb,  and 1 service host is 65 mb that's the highest

If it is an OEM key then yes. It could work, but it shouldn't work. It depends on how the Microsoft God's feel like on that day.

Go into the bios and make sure all 8GB's is being detected.
It is set on XMP.

If it's still not working then make sure all 8GB is detected in Task Manger.
Turn off all nonessential start up programs (practically everything you've installed)
Restart and check again.

It is only reading one stick. I'm went to the BIOS but couldn't find anyways to to change to rest the ram detection.

Looks like I am going to need a new windows key after all, so I'll do a fresh install after I fix the ram

Try the old key before you get a new one as there is a chance that you can still use it, sometimes you have to call them to activate with that old key it just depends

It will probably maybe work. I got one of my keys from kinguin and I had to call microsoft and it did get activated after that. If it doesn't activate let me know and I can try and find the steps I did to get it to work for me

I switched them around and the one card reads in both slots but the other card doesn't read at all. They had both read in my old motherboard

Likely an issue with the stick then

The closest you could get to that is installing the oldest bios version
