although, unless you plan to upgrade to 9th gen, a z370 will also be fine. One thing i would look for is a motherboard with bigger VRMs, since the 8700k runs a bit toasty

any z370 recommendations?

I want something that will be be upgradeable. so i prefer to stick with z390.

recommend a z370 and a z390 preferably ATX but ill take mATX.

I allso have ddr4 16 gb of ram if that helps

do you already have the 8700k? if not, I'd just start looking at 9th gen now since intel probably won't use the z390 for their 10th gen when that comes out

This motherboard will support the 8700K, but it's not the greatest motherboard

That's not a good option compared to the ASRock Z390 Extreme4, especially considering that it doesn't support SLI.

I still suggest that you get an ASRock Z390 Extreme4 for $140: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157848&ignorebbr=1&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-PCPartPicker, LLC-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID=

No support for SLI is an indication of a cheap motherboard. And the Z390 Gaming X is an entry level motherboard, with very few good features.

If you just want to keep arguing with me, why are you asking me for help? Buy whatever you want.
