Custom glass phone housing

Basically, I want to buy a OnePlus 6 housing, and then take the paint off it, like Jerry rig everything, but instead of leaving it at that I want to try and put my own colour on, but I don't know you or if this is even possible without industrial machines...

What type of paint do I use? , Is there something I should do to the glass first, is it even possible...

I have tried to look it up on Google but not much helpful has come up, so I thought I'd come here.

Thanks in advance :)

You can take the paint off a razor blade, like Jerry does, you'll just have to be careful. To paint the glass, you'll need a simple paint brush, or better, an airbrush and some glass lacquer. Since you'd paint the inside of the housing, you won't have to care too much about the surface finish, just make sure that you get the glass really, really clean before you paint it.

It would be interesting to find out what the factory paint is made of as you could probably dissolve it in a solution maybe acetone and avoid the risk of scratching the glass. I suspect it's not actually paint but rather a thin plastic wrap maybe vinyl or something.

Yes that could be it, as often when Jerry does it he can peel it off, instead of scratching it. I might try what u suggested thanks

If it's acrylic based then acetone should do the trick but I really have no idea what it's made of so you'll need to research it :)

It's propably not acrylic based, I've never seen any acrylic based paint stick to smooth surfaces like glass. If it is though, you wouldn't need to disslove it, you could just scrape it off with your fingernails.

But I wouldn't be too worried about scratching the glass. Glass is actually quite hard, and with a plastic tool like a guitar pick, I imagine you could take off the paint easily.

I don't think that's likely. Since it's the inside surface of the housing that's painted, you'd have to make an adhesive that holds you plastic or vinyl while being 100% transparent, you'd have to worry about airbubbles, discoloring from UV, etc. With paint it's just "have a clean surface, spray it with paint, done". Much easier and cheaper.
