Overclocking 8700K

Hello all, im trying to overclock my 8700k to around 4.8ghz. I stress testing my cpu using AIDA64 and when i run the test after about 2 minutes it stops the test and says hardware failure.

i dont suppose anyone knows much about this to help me? looking to go higher that 4.8ghz.. Thanks

16gb 3000mhz ram

gtx 1070

mpg z390 mobo

Does your BIOS have an auto OC feature at all?  Good place to start.

download hwmonitor and take a screenshot of the voltage and temps, i have a feeling it's on the very high side.

 

4.8 not delidded might just be silicon lottery though.

i was watching my temps in corsair link and it was sitting around 65-70c

what about the voltage and what are u using to cool the 8700k

1.29v might not be enough voltage for 4.8 avx*, try using a manual voltage, as long as you are comfortable with the temperatures.

Yeah i have it set at 4.7ghz all cores atm on 1.280 running fine and temps are all good so will try putting the voltage higher and trying again, Cheers
