Hey gamers! My 6 month old rig has been acting up lately. Every time after I shut it down normally, it would turn on but not display anything. Not even the bios logo. I'd have to turn it off by holding the power button and then restart it for it to work normally. All the cosmetic LEDs turn on and all of my peripherals seem to be powered, though, and the monitor thinks its receiving a signal. I am confusion? Please help? I'd like to identify the faulty part in my system before it decides to cause everything else to malfunction. Thanks gamers!

Oh and I just noticed the fans on my GPU aren't spinning. Are they supposed to do that at idle? I'm worried ;(

Difficult to troubleshoot this.

Usually this is a motherboard Bios issue of some sort, or occasionally PSU related.

And trying to fix this can just lead to a big can of worms.

Only thing I can suggest is writing down your old settings then doing a clear cmos, then restoring your settings, or even updating the bios if that doesn't work.

If clearing CMOS and restoring old settings doesn't work, then it gets hard.  You have to look into trying a better Power supply if possible, if you have access to one, or can swap one out for it somehow (or RMA) or even possibly a RMA of the motherboard.

Sometimes this can be caused by devices (SSD's) plugged into M.2 slots on the motherboard (for some bizarre reason).

Usually these problems are bios / motherboard related more than PSU related, and very hard to troubleshoot.

Does your motherboard have a digital POST code display?

That makes it difficult.  It's easier to see and get help from others with the same board if there is a POST code error of some sort, as then there is a point of reference to what might be causing it (and it's easy to search your mainboard and post code error on google or forums!)

Have you checked the Asus ROG forums to see if anyone has had this issue with your motherboard?  Might help but it may take awhile to go through all the posts.

I suggest looking there, then doing the clear CMOS or updating Bios if yours is not current.  RMA'ing is the nuclear option.

Sometimes removing all devices, cleaning with compressed air or an electric duster, everything exposed and all slots, and reinserting, can fix problems caused by foreign particles.  One user recently on a 9900K had his video card running at x1 speed.  He removed the card and the CPU, dusted the slot and socket, reinstalled and all problems were fixed.  But that's a unique, rare situation.
