Hello everyone

Bit of a strange one. I'm trying to fix an hp envy for a friend. It won't turn on. I've reseated the ram, tried known good ram, taken out the cmos battery and put it back in after holding the power button, same with battery. No luck.

Here's the strange part. The power light comes on when pressed, the harddrive spins, but can't hear any activity. And the cpu fan comes on for about 2 seconds then shuts straight off. I thought it could be the display, but its not even working with a known working monitor connected. Any ideas?

What caused the initial issues?

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

Knowing what I know of HP's, it's failing POST at some point and shutting off. You wont get any display until POST is passed. Try resetting CMOS, swapping RAM configs around (1 stick in 1 slot, 1 in another slot, different sticks, ect.), and a simple google of "HP ENVY [model number here] turns on and turns off again, no display"

Brands I wholeheartedly reccomend (though do have flawed products): Apple, Razer, Corsair, Asus, Gigabyte, bequiet!, Noctua, Fractal, GSkill (RAM only)
