Looking for desk/couch monitor

reed-math

Hi all,

I am looking for a monitor recommendation:

I have my desk set up with a couch about 5 feet away. My wife and I like to watch movies from the couch. When I am at the desk I mostly use the computer for writing code and reading pdfs. We do some very light couch gaming (think "Ultimate Chicken Horse" and Super Nintendo/ Gamecube emulators.) Would 32 inches be a good size at that distance?

For what it's worth, this is a Linux machine, and I've read that they work well with 1440p, but don't scale well past that. Because this will be used for movie watching, I'd like to prioritize color and contrast.

I'd like to stay under $500. I'd be happy to provide more info.

Thanks for any advice!!

Pixio makes some fantastic monitors at the 1440p resolution for a good price. Here's a 32" model I'd recommend checking out:
