200GE good for temporary CPU?

Go to solution Solved by PlayStation 2,

It's a fairly decent CPU. It'll probably get through R6S at 60fps and CS at well over that.

It's not a sluggish CPU, it just doesn't have a ton of cores. So basically, yes, it's a decent temporary CPU.

so i might be getting a gtx 1050 ti, and in order to  keep the costs down (for now) i wanted to know if i could use a ryzen 200ge paired with 2x4 ddr4 2400mhz ram, and a 1050ti.. i do not expect to run any AAA games, the most intensive game i wanna run is R6 on medium settings 60 fps.. mostly just wanna record csgo on low - medium 720p and playing games that are not intensive at all.. at most i will need to stick with it until December of next year.. but i will probably have a major upgrade around August

okay thanks, i just need it for a bit to just get me started in pc gaming and the 2200g ended up making it a quite bit over my budget, now it is only $8 over budget but it should be fine

If you're going Athlon, that's the best one, since it's the cheapest Ryzen processor available. A few things to keep in mind:

You should still get that DDR4 2666 instead of 2400. You will have the same ram when getting a new Ryzen CPU, and unless you plan on skipping 1st or 2nd gen for an upgrade, faster ram will help tremendously.

DO NOT get an A320 board, no matter how budget constrained you are. They all belong in a dumpster.

Recording will hit this thing hard, but low res should be manageable.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

PSU tier list

How many watts do I need?

This.

The ASRock AB350M is constantly priced not much higher than the more expensive A320 boards and that's a pretty decent B350 board. If you can get that, please do so.

You should get 60FPS on CS-GO medium-High 1080p

i have I3-7100 with a 1050ti. the only difference is i have 4 threads, but still 2 cores

Not sure about you but I think my 7 year old CPU still rips

You should also look for deals on radeon rx 570 cards, since they're as low as $130 after mail in rebates and give you higher performance than gtx 1050 ti

Asrock Phantom GamingD RX 570 at 140$ (used to be a 10$ mail in rebate for this, don't see it anymore) : https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814930010&ignorebbr=1

if you need the cpu just as placeholder and youre gonna replace it anyway, there's even cheaper socket AM4 processors, but with slower performance.

for example, if you have a cooler, you can go on eBay and get an AMD A6-8570  processor for 34$ :   EBAY LINK (may be cheaper if you make an offer and they accept it, but in the end you still need a cooler for it)

It's around 70% the performance of 200ge but also cheaper.

these are the processors that AMD sold to OEMS (hp, dell, lenovo) before they finished ryzen

I agree. Besides, the 200ge will also come with a cooler, while the stuff on ebay is without and I made sure to note that.
