If you have to ask if you need a workstation, you probably don't need a workstation... If you're using your current rig and you're thinking "this is way too slow for the amount of work I do and I need the extra productivity of something better", you probably need a workstation..

Edit: IMO, Unless your job(with a paycheck!) requires you to have the higher productivity(in some situations) of a workstation, the expense of one would be largely unjustified. If you're just doing some editing on your spare time, it makes more sense to save the money..

Just for trolololzing, why is your name "AMD Lover" if you have a 4770K/660ti?

i7 not perfectly stable at 4.4.. #firstworldproblems

Not really, just get as much RAM as you can and you're good to go. Plenty of HDD space is good too.

not necessary, for editing you will pretty much NEVER use more then 8 gbs. getting 12 or 16gbs of ram is like 2-3 times more then you really need. For an example, i was rendering a video, playing portal, and was afk at a mob spawner in MC and i was using 4.8gbs of ram.

Dude, I'm hitting my 8Gb limit with a picture I'm drawing right. Multiple layers, you see?

Do  you have virtual memory disabled? If so, turn it on. If not increase the paging file size. That should help. Then get more memory.

Virtual memory isn't disabled. No, I don't particularly need more memory. The image I was working on was kind of special for me. The point I was making was that one can easily go over 8Gb when working in Photoshop. A previous post said that using more than 8Gb was overkill for PS.

I, on the other hand, am a firm believer that with PS you can never have enough memory.

I certainly agree with that.

7Gb used with modded arma 2 and shadowplay + wow and Chrome and imageboard/YouTube tabs open

those 3 games each use like 1.5gbs then chrome will use like 1 gb too. so that answer seems legit
