Alexa IFTTT help

hey, i recently bought a new echo dot 3rd gen, and i am having a lot of fun with it, but i want to make it more productive, so i thought to myself, why don't i use my alexa to register my shifts for me, i wanted to use IFTTT for it, but can't seem to figure it out, to most i can get is creating dozens of applets for each possible shift, i want to believe there is a smarter way to do that, please help me figure it out.
