That list was posted using the American filter for PCPartPicker. Don't use that. Use a list that was generated using PCPartPicker's Australia filter so the parts are sourced from retailers in your area. You'll get much better deals.

I'll make a list as soon as you answer my questions from earlier in the thread.

I say wait until CES in January 2019 to hear information about 7 nm Ryzen developments. I made some lists just in case you don't want to wait:

List 1: RTX 2070 with better case, good storage solution, more powerful CPU and CPU cooling solution.

Since you're only doing 1080p an RTX 2070 is plenty to max out the monitor refresh rate. I advise you use this build.

List 2: RTX 2080 with cheapish case, lacking storage, and less powerful CPU and CPU cooling solution.

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant
Type Item Price
CPU AMD - Ryzen 5 2600 3.4 GHz 6-Core Processor $212.00 @ Amazon Australia
Motherboard MSI - B450M MORTAR Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard $149.00 @ Scorptec
Memory Corsair - Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3000 Memory $189.00 @ IJK
Storage Crucial - BX500 480 GB 2.5" Solid State Drive $98.00 @ Umart
Video Card MSI - GeForce RTX 2080 8 GB DUKE Video Card $1213.85 @ Amazon Australia
Case Cooler Master - MasterBox Lite 3.1 TG MicroATX Mid Tower Case $58.00 @ Umart
Power Supply be quiet! - Pure Power 11 600 W 80+ Gold Certified ATX Power Supply $119.00 @ PCCaseGear
Prices include shipping, taxes, rebates, and discounts
  Total $2038.85
  Generated by PCPartPicker 2018-12-06 17:08 AEDT+1100

This list incorporates a more powerful GPU at the expense of half the storage, a less powerful CPU and CPU cooling solution, and the case is cheaper. I don't think you'll notice any benefit from the RTX 2080 over an RTX 2070 since an RTX 2070 is going to max out the monitor anyways. If you want a multi-monitor setup or plan to upgrade the monitor to a 144 Hz 1440p or better you may consider this list.

Even still the RTX 2070 is still probably fine. If the primary monitor is 144 Hz but the secondary monitor(s) are 1080p 60 Hz or less you're still fine. If you do multi-screen gaming go with the better GPU build.

Ehhh, hard to say. The leaks looks REALLY good though.

Prices change a lot over time. If you're going to wait then wait make sure you buy the GPU, motherboard, and CPU at  the same time. All else can be purchased now.

is it worth investing in a g-sync monitor down the track

I don't think so. The price hike for Gsync is too much to make sense to me. I have an AMD GPU and a freesync monitor and can confirm adaptive sync is pretty cool, but it's not the biggest deal in the world. It's nice as a kicker since freesync compatible monitors have a similar price to non-freesync counterparts, but not worth too much IMO. You'd have to see Gsync working in person yourself to make that decision. Be warned, Gsync will probably add at least $400 AUD to the cost of the monitor you're looking at.

why would i wait and get thye gpu with the cpu.

GPU prices will come down if AMD releases Navi 12 in January. Absolutely no confirmation about that at this time, just some leaked info that can be wrong.

Check out these threads for more information:

Just remember that the 7nm Ryzen CPUs may not release in January. It's probably just an announcement, but I still think it's worth the wait just in case the parts do release. We only have leaks to go on. We'll know more by late December because some supplier is bound to let it slip with a listing if some 7nm Ryzen parts will come out in January.
