So a few days ago i was playing a game and all of a sudden my pc shut off mid game. When I went to turn the pc back on the only thing that would happen is the lights on the case would flicker for a second then nothing. After taking the ram and gpu (980 ti) out I figured out that the pc wouldnt boot with the gpu plugged in. So as a test I grabbed a gtx 970 I had laying around and plugged it in and it fixed the issue. My question is it the gpu or the psu. The reason I ask if its the psu is because in the past ive had a somewhat similar issue and it turned out to not be the card but the psu wasnt able to deliver enough power to the card so the pc refused to boot up. Any thoughts? As a side note i have been having some frequent crashes as of late but ive not able to pin point what causes it. Ive not had any overheating issues or anything similar to that from card and i haven't had an over clock on the card.

the psu is thermaltake (sp?) 600 watt.

Any help is appreciated.

Thank you for the replies I forgot I had an old psu sitting around and I plugged it up and tested it safe to say its the 980ti. Lucky its still under warranty for a few more months so im gonna rma it.

Sorry to revive the post but did you ever found out what the problem was? Shorted, solder issue? Is there any chance you could contact the reseller and ask them? I have the exact same issue and I'm planning to get it fixed but don't have the means of where to start searching for the issue so any info you can throw will help a lot! Thanks beforehand!
