Undetected GPU

xGregGames

So I just built a new computer and the graphics card is not being detected. Its a gigabyte windforce rtx 2070 and every time I try to download drivers it says its undetected. In my device manager I have Microsoft basic display adapter under the display adapters. The cards logo lights up and the fans all spin light they should. Everything I have found to do has not worked.

does the GPU detect itself if you ran say, something like userbenchmark?

And you are SURE you plugged your monitor into your GPU?(Not your MB) If so, then it could be that you are downloading old drivers, go to the NVIDIA webpage and download the drivers from there, make sure the driver version starts with 4, I believe those are meant to support RTX cards.

huh... odd but you get video to the monitor from the gpu...

do you have integrated video on the motherboard? if so, you have to disable that to use the GPU.

I know I'm not that great with the BIOS, but I'm pretty sure they are disabled. In the graphics configuration I have primary display set to PCIE. That's about it.

Yes I'm sure its plugged into the gpu. This isn't my first time seeing a computer. The problem with downloading the drivers is that it checks your graphics card I guess, but of course it is saying something along the lines of not being able to because it doesn't recognize that it is there.

Chances you have an old driver. this one should support RTX, try that:

I can't download the driver because it is not compatible with my version of windows. So I've been downloading windows updates since last night trying to get to a version that i can download these drivers. I forgot that was the problem with downloading the drivers.
