Ah yes, my plan has succeeded that has been almost TWO years in the works. What the plan was you may ask? Simple, to co- I mean trick my family into getting the parts to build a computer. So here was my plan. Last Christmas, my request was simple a new desktop computer. Of course my Dad having the strict $350 budget I ended up with a HP Pavilion with a i5-7400 from Walmart. A great processor and just what I needed. I worked on getting a new RAM kit for my birthday and all was well my plan is succeeding.

So now it comes to this year. From my parents I asked for a case and power supply adding up to a pretty good $100 for my only presents. Got my Aunt and Uncle to get me a $60 dollar motherboard and most importantly, got my second aunt to get a GTX 1070 off of ebay for a cheapish $250. So pulling the CPU, RAM, and other components from my prebuilt I am going to end up with a mid to high range gaming PC and it only took two years.

So my advice? Spread out your PC parts well to not deal a devastating blow to one family members Christmas budget.

Lol.

1070 and an i5? Hope an i7 is your next upgrade, my brother's 7400 bottlenecks his 970 pretty bad.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

PSU tier list

How many watts do I need?

PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

Hm, odd. I have done research and for 1080p gaming it shouldn't bottleneck it at all. But maybe for next Birthday ill get a upgrade.

Of course, you'll be using it yourself so there's no better time to experiment with where you'd need a better CPU.
