Okay okay.

I have wanted to make this custom case for a while.

It's roughly based on the Dragon 2 Spacecraft created by SpaceX.

I was thinking of creating a "small" micro-atx work station as a proof of concept and possibly creating gaming computers later.

I have two major concerns.

First is the case material. I have a 3d printer. I typically use PLA, but I'm guessing ABS will be necessary.

Would a metal inner shell be necessary to direct heat away from the plastic or can I insulate the plastic?

How thick should the abs be?

Second is the cables. Since the case is such an odd shape, I need to reroute nearly every cable.

So what are the correct names for these cable.extensions (USB, 3.5mm, hdmi, ethernet) that can be easily mounted to a computer case.

Should I create a custom mounting plate for all the ports? (it probably is unavoidable)

Okay, even though no one helped probably because everyone thinks I'm a hopeless cause, I started designing it in Fusion 360.

I have made placeholders for ATX, mATX, and mITX boards with correct hole placements. I will probably use some insulated aluminum plate for motherboard support.

I have also started on designing the shell.

The crew hatch is a separate piece that I hope will become a cover for a back lit power button.

I hope to make the engine shroud into air intakes. Any suggestions how how to make an air filter or what material to use?

I have also added a recessed area in the back for the power cord.

I will be adding a frame for this shell to slide onto.

I still need help finding standard dimensions and hole placements for PSU, optical drives, 5.25'' mechanical hard drives, and 3.5'' ssd drives.

Obviously there is still allot of work, but not bad for a couple hours of messing around.
