Source please.

Just my experience. Got one back in December of 2016. Boxed it back up in January 2017 and have not touched it since. Something that gets old after a week or two, if that. You spend more time searching for a game worth playing than you do actually playing a game. Then you find something that's actually fun like just being in a virtual world with other people. But I'm telling you, it gets old very fast. It's just a parlor trick in my opinion.

That's not evidence of anything. I got my Rift before you and last used it yesterday.

What games/apps have you played/used more than a few hours with the Rift?

Echo VR, Skyrim VR, Fallout 4 VR, Eleven Table Tennis, The Mage's Tale, Subnautica, and Rec Room. Not that it's fair to rule out shorter experiences - Lone Echo is probably the most memorable game I played in 2017.

Echo VR

I'm all for free VR titles. It's always a toss up of whether or not they're any good. At least that's how it was in December of 2016. A lot of games were in such early access and insanely overpriced at the time. That was one of the major gripes I had. Hopefully that has changed. This Echo VR game looks pretty good. Will install and play it if I ever get around to using my Rift again. I'll probably wait til the beginning of 2019 to do so just so it'll have been 2 full years since I touched it. A great way to judge how much it has changed in 2 years.

Skyrim VR

Skyrim was playable with some $40 program I had to buy back in 2016. Didn't have Skyrim at the time so I couldn't play it. Looks like Skyrim VR they released almost a year later in November of 2017. I would think it's just as good, if not better than using that $40 program back then. I hear mostly great things about Skyrim in VR. Wonder if I can get that $40 program to play the base game of Skyrim Special Edition now that I own it.

Fallout 4 VR

I don't have Fallout 4 anymore but I would definitely be interested in the VR version of the game. Has it been on any good sales? I'd pay around $10 for it.

Eleven Table Tennis

All I can say about this one from watching 30 seconds of game play of it on YouTube is AWESOME! All the ping pong games I played in early access sucked in 2016.

The Mage's Tale

Looks like a great game to give a try. How much is it now? And has it ever been on a big sale?

Subnautica

LOVE this game for PC. It HAS to be a great VR game. Do you have to buy the VR version(if there is one) or can you just play the base game in VR? And speaking of which, are there base games(any games) that basically have VR support now? Do you still have to use the $40 program to play them? This would be a GREAT change if base games just support VR now. They didn't in 2016 without that $40 program.

Rec Room

I remember this being in such early access, something about it was just lacking. How has it become over the years? I was very interested in it at the time and I think I still have it on my Oculus account.

Oh and is Lone Echo the same game as Echo VR?

Even though I haven't touched it in almost 2 years, you can tell VR is still very fresh and exciting to me. I just hope it has changed dramatically since 2016.

I guess that $40 program is VorpX. I've heard it's really annoying to use, so I've skipped it.

Skyrim VR and Fallout 4 VR are separately released games now. Kinda expensive for that at full price, definitely better to wait for a discount, but they work pretty well (especially Skyrim; Fallout's performance and AA is a bit iffy). Dunno if they've been all the way down at $10 though.

I think the standard price for The Mage's Tale is $30 (shows €30 for me), and it's been 50-60% off a few times.

Subnautica just comes with a VR mode built in. A fair number of other games do the same, like Payday 2.

Rec Room keeps adding more and more minigames you can play. Obviously they had to add a battle royale as part of it. Pretty decent overall, the fun factor depends a lot on who you're with of course. It's free so easy to check out anyhow.

Lone Echo is a singleplayer game, Echo VR is the multiplayer spinoff, standalone game. Echo VR comes with a zero-G disc-throwing game mode for free, with a shooter mode unlockable for $10.
