CPU Air Coolers
My current build is
CPU: Intel - Core i7-8700K 3.7 GHz 6-Core Processor (Purchased For $299.99)
Motherboard: Asus - ROG STRIX Z370-E GAMING ATX LGA1151 Motherboard (Purchased For $179.99)
Memory: Corsair - Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 Memory (Purchased For $149.99)
Storage: Samsung - 970 Evo 500 GB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive (Purchased For $109.99)
Case: Phanteks - Eclipse P350X (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case (Purchased For $74.62)
Power Supply: EVGA - SuperNOVA G2 750 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply (Purchased For $69.99)
Total: $884.57

I'm going to be using this build for mid overclocks, probably 4.5-4.8ghz, and I was wondering what cpu cooler I should buy for that. I don't plan on getting the noctua nh-d15 since the color scheme doesn't fit my build, and replacing the fans would just be a waste. I might delid if I have to. Thanks! (GPU will probably be a rtx 2070, 1080, or 1070 ti)

I might have it be delidded but idk if I should risk it. If anyone has suggestions for me I would greatly appreciate the help! Thanks!

if you need it to be black, HIGHLY recommend the BeQuiet! Dark Rock Pro 4.

AIOs are fantastic, but can fail spectacularly. nothing spectacular about an aircooler that fails...

[FS][US] Corsair H115i 280mm AIO-AMD $60+shipping

I just realized the p350x has a max height of 160mm, and I already bought it. I guess I'd say I can spend to 100 on a cooler.

I've been looking at the Cryorig h5 Ultimate, the Noctua nh-d15s, the scythe fuma rev. 2, dark rock 4, Noctua NH-D14, etc

What kind of dollars? USD?

The NH-D14 is an older design that is arguably outdated regarding ease of use and acoustics. The different fan sizes cause turbulent noise, aren't pwm except on the lga 2011 variant, uses clips are overly complicated and aren't easy to install, and the heat fins are spiky and catch onto things. The NH-D15S is a similarly performing alternative that fixes all of these issues.

Sorry for not specifying. Yes, USD. I've been told that the Scythe Fuma is almost close to the NH-D15 in performance, but I would like to know if that is even remotely true, since it would be nice to spend less money but still have something that performs like a D15. My problem with the D15S is the fact that its huge and is literally right at the limit, which i fear will become a problem.  Do you know if there's anything shorter with similar performance? If not, i might just have to go with the D15s (or the Fuma if it's actually true).Thank you!

Yep, the Fuma performs as well if not better than the NH-D15 with overtightening. That being said, this is overtightening that can potentially damage thinner pcb's on cpus like the 8700k so I recommend not doing so. This overtightening and performance increase was fixed / removed in the newer Fuma Rev. B.

If you want as much performance as possible, the NH-D15S and NH-D15 fit if you move the front fan to the rear in pull.

If you want to save some money, the Ninja 4 is a good alternative with similar performance to coolers like the NH-D14 and NH-D15S: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/RZfmP6/scythe-cpu-cooler-scnj4000

So what if I got the rev. b version? Would that be better for me? Or should I just  go with the 15s and hope it actually fits? I would like the best cooling now so I don't regret it later, so what do you think is my best option? Thank you so much for the help

The Fuma Rev B. isn't as good as the NH-D15S or Ninja 4.

The Ninja 4 is the best value at $40. The NH-D15S performs slightly better but the price premium mainly goes into the higher quality fans, ease of installation, better compatibility, and longer warranty.

There's no need to hope because it fits. https://pcpartpicker.com/b/JCq48d

Would you happen to know if there's a huge difference in thermals from the ninja 4 and the nh-d15s? I want to put all the $ i can into the GPU. Like I said I'd probably end up trying to reach 4.5-4.8ghz, and would be nice to keep thermals at a good state.

No, the difference is slight.

You'd say basically like only a 1-4 degree difference?

More like 1-3c but it depends on the load.
