Z390-A USB Headers

MrGP

Hey everyone, I'm building my first PC and had a quick question regarding the USB headers available on the Z390-A motherboard. The one that I'm looking at particularly is Asus PRIME Z390-A for my build with a i9 9900k processor. I'm getting some conflicting results on google so I figured I should ask here. Hopefully you can help, thanks!

Are you asking for amount of usb ports?

Z390 supports 3.2 gen1 usb ( 6 ports ) onto of everything z370 gives you

I may be wrong.

Google might give you conflicting answers but ASUS won't.  Do yourself a favor and download the manual for the motherboard you're interested in and give it a read.

I checked the manual, thanks for that. For future readers, the image shown above says 2 x front USB 3.1 Gen1 headers but in reality that is combining the Type C and Type A together. The promotional material is not correct... There is only 1 USB 3.1 Gen1 TypeA and another USB 3.1 Gen1 TypeC connector for your cases' chassis. Furthermore, both the manual and motherboarddb.com shows it only has 1 USB 3.0 header.

It is a little misleading.  What they are trying to say " 1 x USB 3.1 Gen 1 header supports additional 2 USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports"

Reading it again I have no idea why ASUS did their promo like that.  Luckily the manual is correct.  Another point for always read the manual.

It looks like the "advertising" is showing how many PORTS are available, NOT how many headers.

If that is the situation, they are correct.

A single USB 3 Header can supply two USB 3.0 ports.

The USB-C Header only supply one USB-C port.

(Two USB 2.0 Headers, so four USB 2.0 ports)

EDIT:

This is also consistent with the rear I/O labeling...
