so i just re did my system last night and all the sudden its making some weird humming/buzzing noise.  it isnt consistant as it goes on and off randomly.  not sure what it is just wana make sure nothing is wrong.  also sometimes when i boot up the system, all the fans begin to spin up and my monitor says no signal.  i hit the reset button nothing works,  i hold the power button and sometimes it will turn off and other times it wont.  whats the issue im having here?

Try checking that your CPU/GPU is properly seated, the BIOS might be trying to identify them and if they are damaged so they have a hard time being recognized.

If you could identify where the noise is coming from it'd be a lot easier to troubleshoot, this could be anything from a bad fan to frying electronics. Don't be scared though, usually this is due to bad bearings in fans or loose hardware. Turn it off, unplug the power supply, press the power button to release the stored energy, then go through and make sure everything is tight, if everything is and the noise isn't coming from anything loose i'd start troubleshooting with bad hardware.

Did you find out where the noise is coming from?

A wire hitting a fan

Power Supply acting up

Are all your cables securely connected?

i am unable to determine exactly where it is coming from.  the fans and psu are realtivley new.  everything is working fine.  one thing that i did notice is that when i booted up the system for the first time with the new parts, i did see a little bit of smoke come from the bottem of my case with a burning smell.  it went away quickey and everything was working otherwise so i didnt think anything about it.

That is not good

Not good at all

Maybe you dropped a metal screw on the motherboard and did not realize it, or you could have hooked up a connector wrong. Should never see smoke or smell burning anything especially when turning it on for the first time, or EVER!

sounds like you might have a power supply problem. Either that or something is grounding. every has been working fine? No sudden restarts or power offs?

I believe he said it did that, I could be wrong. Could be anything. I would look for black soot, or anything abnormal on the mobo and psu. Use a flashlight.

Next step would be to look for a ground or burnt place like @Canada EH suggested (soot), even if it means completely taking apart your computer to search - if anything is grounding you're lucky nothing is dead. If there are no points, check the power supply, if possible try another.

Goood points there, the underside of the mobo as well. Perhaps that part of the mobo is a feature not used, or it may very well be that noise or intermittent problem

most likely not a good idea to run it at the moment, but if it can't be helped (if you use it for work or etc) try to record the noise. but this is ONLY if you need to run it, until you come to the conclusion that it isn't grounding it's best left off AND UNPLUGGED.

Ummmm. Smoke and a burning smell and "didnt think anything about it" dont really go in the same sentence. Clearly something shorted or burned out.

Id use a flashlight and find out what got cooked.
