So I have a readyNAS Pro 2, got it off craigslist, factory reset, all of that stuff that you should do when getting used computer stuff. Funny part though? I've been watching videos and reading forums on how to get this thing set up for at least 4 hours+, and still can't transfer files from my PC to the NAS. I'm REAL tired, so if someone would like to help me out with this, be patient with me because I'm running off coffee now.

The NAS IS being detected by the network settings and everything by my computer, but clicking on them doesn't open a file explorer or anything like that, it takes me to the NAS admin page in google chrome. With the settings I have on at the moment, it's being detected as a storage device, and media device. Clicking on one makes the same result as the other, directing me to the admin page.

If you want to hop in a discord call, I'd be glad to do so, just DM me or something.

Well on a Synology you have to create a share.  I'd imagine you'd need to do that in your ReadyNAS as well.  Sorry I don't have any experience with your unit, but I figured I'd say something since you haven't gotten any responses yet.

As above, you need to create the shares first on the readynas, so like eg shares for:-

  • Movies
  • TV
  • Music
  • Games
  • Other

You can then connect to them by for instance entering the address into your file explorer. \\192.168.1.10\Movies. I usually create a shortcut on my desktop to the address, and also map the network drive, for ease of use more than anything.

You might want to make the readynas have a static address also, if it isn't already... and then edit your DHCP range in your router, so that the address isn't given out to another device. For instance as above, the address of the readynas is 192.168.1.10, then making it static on the readynas unit itself and editing the DHCP range to only start at 192.168.1.11 for example, means that you have 10 addresses reserved for anything you have that might want a static address so it doesn't change suddenly, which you definitely don't want with servers/NAS that you want access to.
