Potential Issues / Incompatibilities

  • Some AMD B350 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Pinnacle Ridge CPUs. Upgrading the BIOS may require a different CPU that is supported by older BIOS revisions.

What they're saying is that your BIOS may not be compatible with the Ryzen 5 2600, as B350/X370 motherboards will need a BIOS update to work with Zen+ CPUs.

By now, all boards should have a compatible BIOS.

So will it work or not? Do I need to update the BIOS when I get the board?

It should work, Ryzen 2xxx processors have been out for long enough that every A320/B350/X370 board should be compatible out of the box.

Even if the board isn't compatible, you can always download a bios update on another pc and manually flash it (pain but it works).

I thought you needed an older CPU to upgrade the BIOS? or was that a different issue?

You need a CPU for it, not another computer. You're thinking drivers.

AMD has a boot kit you can borrow with a CPU from to boot.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

PSU tier list

How many watts do I need?

PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

You need to download the new BIOS revision from somewhere....

It will be possible to do it from the PC you're working on once you have the suitable CPU, as opposed to a different system. Although, it is faster to source the BIOS from another computer.

I guess that's true, I tend to forget about/not use Internet Flash utilities.
