I have connected an external enclosure to my 2018 Mac Mini as my primary storage. It is a Mediasonic ProRaid USB-C with two Samsung 860 EVO 1Tb SSDs, set to RAID 0. It's great performance-wise, but I'm concerned because the hardware RAID doesn't support TRIM.

I want to keep the two SSDs, but given that, what are my best options?

Software RAID?

not sure how that works on Mac.  But my experience with it in windows has been mostly positive.

There are some issues i have with my RAID 5 mostly full, which causes the drives to be offlined sometimes when it runs a refresh of the data on the drives to prevent data corrosion.  A restart fixes that 90% of the time.
