Just been to the intel website and checked out the i7 9800x but im having trouble finding any reviews on it even though it shows that its already been launched.

If any one can let me know if this is a good processor or not i would appreciate it.

It's a Core-X HEDT processor with 8 cores and 16 threads, based on the skylake architecture. Basically, it's a 7820X with a new sticker.

It's the weird LGA2066 platform. It had some odd i5 and i7 chips on the 7xxx series.

No. Those never existed. I deny their existence.

yes and the 9800x is the cheapest cpu with 44 pcie lanes so just wanted to know how it runs. and sorry if i posted in the wrong section. new to this site.

Again, it runs like a 7820X, just with extra lanes. Whether you need those lanes depends on how many add-in cards you need.

They also increased the L3 cache from 11MB to 16.5MB. Base and turbo clocks get a slight bump up but so does the TDP. Where I am the pre-order pricing of the 9800X isn't much different than the regular price of the 7820X so if you really want this class CPU, might be worth waiting a little more. One place has had 7 Dec. as estimated date showing since it was listed. Edit: I think the 9000X series are soldered too, but need to double check on the lower models.

Interested in computer architecture? Still in middle or high school? P.M. me!

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.
