Upgrading Question

Right now, I am rocking a refurbished EVGA GTX 980 and I am looking to upgrade to a card that runs games on 1440p better.

 

I am trying to keep my spending around ~$450 bucks and was specifically looking at the EVGA 1070 Ti.

 

Any advice?

Are you looking for the replacement card to be a refurbished one possibly to lower the initial cost of purchase? I think that another GTX 980 which would be in an SLI setup may offer better value although when in comparison to having the card replaced with a GTX 1070 Ti which have been suffering from price inflation due to high general demand. If you are going to get a used one, make sure that it was not severely worn out for a task which is was not designed to do such as mining digital concurrences such as Bitcoin.

A new card would be preferred and I am not sure if GTX 980 SLI would be better than a single GTX 1070 Ti, but I haven't looked at benchmarks.
