Cpu is thermal throttling on prime95

I recently replaced my thermal paste, and decided to run prime 95 on my i7 2600k, with a cooler master t2 cooler, it ran fine for the first couple minutes, and then it started throttling, at around 55c, any idea why? Thanks

What do you mean by throttling? How far down is it going?

It starts dropping to 1600ish mhz from 3.4, and then goes back up and repeats

It could be throttling, but at 55c I really doubt it. It might just not be getting enough power.
