I am currently a high school student and I am looking for a new laptop. I do activities and have hobbies that require a decent laptop but I have a budget constraint.

Use Case:

-Debate (requires heavy multitasking)

-Light 3d Modelling for 3d printing for DIY projects

-Occasional Gaming

-Studying and Homework

-Light Video Editing; 1080p video about 10 minutes long on average

Requirements or Preferences

-1080p screen, I don't need anything higher but I do want something Full-HD

-Doesn't have to be an ultrabook but shouldn't be too thick

-A decent battery life, something 5 hours+ should be fine

-Anywhere from 13" to 15.6" will do.

-Dedicated GPU would definitely be appreciated (if not needed)

Target Specs:

CPU: 6th to 8th Gen Core i5 dual-core or 3rd to 5th Gen Core i7 or i5 Quad Core

GPU: Something like a GTX 1050 or GTX 970m or something, I'm okay with going a bit lower over here.

RAM: At least 8GB, more isn't needed but expandability would be nice

Budget: About $500

*I am perfectly fine with buying used. Something like a couple of years old high-end laptop will do just fine

Does anyone have any recommendations? Thanks.

There aren't too many brand new options at this price point. I once got a laptop with a quad core i7, a dedicated GPU (740m or something), and 12GB of ram for only $350. Start looking for used laptop deals, and you'll eventually find something right for you.

I do understand that with the Budget and rather unjustifiable requirements that I have, I probably have to look for used, I was thinking about a Razer Blade  2013,

i7 4702hq

GTX 765m

8gb Ram

256 GB SSD

$450

I managed to find some local sellers in my price range, but how well can I expect it to stack up, and how long will they last?

I'm looking for a used-to-be high end notebook, my brother had a good experience with something like that buying an older MacBook Pro which still had modern features... I don't know, are there any other notebooks that would fit?

If you're willing to spend $599 instead of $500, you can get a new laptop that checks all of your boxes. The 15.6" Acer Aspire 5 has an 8th gen quad-core i5, 8GB of RAM, an mx150 that seems to be the more powerful 25w variant, a 256GB SSD, and a full HD display. It's one of the best value laptops you can get right now, with its only downside being the TN panel.

That could work, but I'll have to think a bit more, thanks though!
