Biostar TB85 Only Recognizing 4 GPU's

Hey guys,

 

So I started running a miner I built a few days ago. My motherboard is a Biostar TB85 and I have 5 MSI 470s. I running this miner on windows 10.

I have all 5 GPU's running on usb gpu risers but windows only detects 4/5 cards. I've tried re installing the GPU's and when I connect the last GPU windows dosesnt recognize the last GPU.

 

Does anyone know what could be wrong?

Have you tried swapping the PCie slots? Maybe one is dead?

Yes I have swapped the PCI slots and alld GPUs and PCI slots are working

Do you have enough power and both Molexplugs connected that are on the board additionally?

I do not have the molexplugs powered on the motherboard. Also, all 5  of the GPU's have the fans running on them but windows only sees 4

Yeah The fans are usually the first thing the cards activate because of potential overheating issues that could accure.

You should connect the molex plugs, maybe the PCIe slot is not adequately powered.

ok I will give that a try now. Does this have any risk on frying anything?

Why would they put the plugs on there if that'd fry the cards? Nah it's fine. Some high end boards have this too for quad SLI/CF. This one has it for your reason most likely.

I was just think I could maybe over power the cards, because they're already being powered by the molex cable through the riser.

wow man thank you! Windows now sees all 5 cards.... but my miner crashes now lol

It's something, i guess. Maybe just reinstall it or configure it differently. That's sadly nothing i can help you with because i don't have any mining experience

Yeah that's fine Ill have to do some tinkering to see what the problem is now.

Well if your little tip was a million USD i woulnd't have declined  

Electricity is too expensive in my area to be any profitable so i'm just running Folding@Home for science and a good cause from time to time rather than mining.

I'm just mining as a hobby  BlueMagic.info doesn't mine he is all about investing in crypto

Yes I do. In the bios there is a setting >4g that must be turned on to access more than 4 cards in windows.
