what m.2 slot do i have?

I currently have a M.2 2280 in my laptop, and was wondering what speed the port it was connected to was. like 2.0 x2/x4, or 3.0 x4 speeds. is there a way to find this out without opening my laptop? Acer Aspire V 13 touch is the model.

You need to give an actual model number. There's quite a few laptops under the Aspire V moniker.

It seems to be quite cheap though, so I imagine it's just SATA, not NVMe.

It's just a SATA drive.

so Sata 3? so in that case, it would be pointless to upgrade the ssd (520Read/260Write) to something with a little more read/Write? cause i do have a spare m.2 thats a lot faster, but dont want to put it in if it can utilize the speed

You might see a write improvement, but depending on the drive you might also see greatly reduced battery life. You'd have to find a review on the drive that tests it in laptops.

greatly reduced battery? from M.2 to M.2 how could there be a great reduction in battery life? i already get about 4-6 hours of battery depending on what im doing. my current M.2 that came with the laptop is 520read/260write and uses like 6.7W on load, and the one i have spare is 2800MB/s read and 1100MB/s write and load is 6.1W from what it says here. idle times are are lower in mW

Some drives use more power, which greatly affects it. I read one review where the difference between the PM951 and the drive I was looking at was in the hours.

So you have an NVMe drive. I don't think you can use those with SATA, but I'm not positive.
