Is it save to do a test boot with no cpu cooler

Just need to test new stuff 7770k and the rest but have no cpu cooler expect the ek water cooler but cant do that for test post only

Yes. When I was an idiot I ran my i3 2120 3.30GHz for 30mins without a cooler.

i would at least put a cup of cold water on it or something while being extremely careful not to spill it.

Just get a cooler it's not a huge deal to wait a few days for it to ship.

Should be fine, might crash if you run stress tests so avoid those. If it gets too hot, it will downclock itself and shut down if it cant downclock any further.

It might run for 15-30s, but honestly why would risk it? You pay $300+ for CPU just to risk breaking/damaging it because you can't wait for cooler? Or can't get older stock cooler from trash can?
