How to reduce GPU load?

Vishvas Sudarshan

So when I play Crysis, I get 100+ FPS and my GPU is at 100% load. But My monitor is only 70Hz.

How can I bring the FPS rate down to about 75-80. So that I can reduce the load on my GPU and also keep the system a bit cooler.

Not sure about crysis but some games let you adjust the fps or just enable vsync as that caps the fps as your monitors refresh rate.

Vsync will cap FPS at monitor FPS, but can dip below in tough scenes.

a i5 6500 and a 1060 3gb should be a good pair.

Okay. That's cool. But I have another issue. In Crysis alone, if I turn on V-Sync my FPS(Output to display) gets capped at 50. The game renders at 70FPS, but the output to my monitor is 50.

Disable Vsync in game and presuming you have nvidia enable it for that game in the nvidia control panel.

Don't play Crysis, problem solved /s

On more serious note why would you wsnt to do that? Turn vsync like @Droidbot suggested if you don't like extra fps. Else if cards run at good temps then keep it that way you are not harming it

Turn Vsync on. But I see no reason to limit it. At whst refresh rate it is running at (monitor). Did you just turn vsync (i believe tjere double and triple buffered too try if they make any impact)

you can limit fps using nvidia profile inspector:

therefore reducing GPU load.

or you could use Rivatuner, often bundled with MSI Afterburner. it has a global fps cap in the settings.

also using nvidia inspector's fps cap causes more (input) lag, though it doesn't matter too much if you're not in MP
