what would intel hd graphics be similar to a real graphics card?

Better than a GT 730. Something like an R7 250X most likely

Depepnds on the CPU as not all Intel HD graphics are the same

There are HD530, HD4600, HD5010 and so on

Depends on the generation. Iris Pro is actually pretty solid, and doesn't perform too much worse than a 750 Ti. The Skylake iGPU is also solid, but not much use for gaming outside of cakewalk stuff like LoL, DOTA2, WoW, Rocket League, CS:GO, etc. The Haswell generation and earlier HD graphics are just awful in every conceivable way. I've had difficulty getting HD 4000 graphics to consistently run 1080p video without stuttering before.

Aerocool DS are the best fans you've never tried.

Nah just kidding, not only it depends on which CPU generation we are talking about but it also relies heavily on RAM speed (the iGP scales very good with ram speed) and game. Some of the old ones not even accepting their existence xD
